Supporting Logigero Primary School
The Logigero Primary School is located close to the entry gate of the Masai Mara population and serves the Masai community of Talek. The school stems from small beginnings, when its founder, Jacob Nkumum, taught small groups of boys under an acacia tree. Classes were regularly interrupted by the surrounding wildlife with lions, cheetahs, and sometimes by the wildebeest migration. It has been 15 years since the school was founded and it now has permanent buildings with 14 classrooms and 13 teachers who educate over 488 boys and girls who attend the school.
It is thanks to the donations and support of local businesses, international charities and tourists that the school continues to thrive. The school is now able to offer a meal for every pupil and the next phase is to build a dormitory so that pupils from neighbouring communities can also attend the school.
Ashnil Mara’s manager, Edwin Nyamanga, recently visited the school and donated crockery from the camp, and stationary which was kindly donated by the guests staying at Ashnil Mara. Edwin also invited 17 pupils who had just completed their Kenya Certificate of Primary Education Exams to enjoy a game drive in the Masai Mara.
The pupils were accompanied by two of their teachers and enjoyed learning about the animals that inhabit the area that they live in. The class 8 pupils were then treated to lunch at the camp.
Ashnil Mara Camp are committed to supporting the Logigero Primary School and its pupils.
